Launch of Handbook API
Access to FCA Handbook data is now available directly through our new Application Programming Interface (API). The Handbook API provides Handbook data in a structured, machine-readable format, supporting a more efficient, responsive and forward-looking regulatory environment. It is free to use and gives firms the flexibility to integrate compliance into their own systems or work with third-party providers.
To access the Handbook API documentation, click here: Handbook API. For more information, see the FAQs below.
Who can access the Handbook API?
The Handbook API is available to all users who have registered for a free account on the website. Usage will be subject to the Terms and Conditions; by accessing the Handbook API, you are agreeing to those terms and conditions.
What can the Handbook API be used for?
The API enables systems to access structured Handbook content directly. This data may be used to support various use cases, including compliance monitoring, regulatory and policy change management and other RegTech tools.
How current is the Handbook API?
The API automatically extracts content from the latest version of the Handbook. As such, it retrieves the most current information. For more on the Handbook update cycle, see our Handbook FAQs.
How can I be notified of changes to the Handbook?
When you create an account on the Handbook website, you will be automatically enrolled into a mailing list which will provide monthly Handbook updates. You can opt out of this mailing list at any time via the website.
How can I access the Handbook API?
Users cannot interact with the API directly through our website but instead must use compatible external applications, such as Postman or RapidAPI. You can access the API documentation via the left-hand side menu of the website.
Will historic Handbook versions be available via the Handbook API?
No. The API does not provide past versions of Handbook content. Attempting to extract information from a past date using the API will return an error message. Only current and future versions of the API are available.
Will there be usage limits on the Handbook API?
Protected endpoints are rate-limited per authenticated user and endpoint path. If the rate limit is exceeded, the API will return an error.
