client bank account

  1. (1) (other than in CASS 7 and CASS 7A and principally in CASS 5):
    1. (a) an account at a bank which:
      1. (i) holds the money of one or more clients;
      2. (ii) is in the name of the firm; and
      3. (iii) includes in its title an appropriate description to distinguish the money in the account from the firm's money; and
      4. (iv) is a current or a deposit account; or
    2. (b) a money market deposit account of client money which is identified as being client money.
  2. (2) (in CASS 7 and CASS 7A)
    1. (a) an account at a bank which:
      1. (i) holds the money of one or more clients;
      2. (ii) is in the name of the firm; and
      3. (iii) is a current or a deposit account; or
    2. (b) a money market deposit account of client money which is identified as being client money.
  3. 157(3) (in CASS 11):
    1. (a) an account at an approved bank which:
      1. (i) holds the money of one or more clients;
      2. (ii) is held in the name of the firm to which CASS 11.9 (segregation and the operation of client money accounts) applies;
      3. (iii) includes in its title the word "client" (or, if the system constraints of the approved bank or the firm that holds the account (or both) make this impracticable, an appropriate abbreviation of "client" that has the same meaning); and
      4. (iv) is a current or a deposit account.
